10 Days...

I am not sure how it happened or when it happened but today marks 10 days. 10 days. Last time I checked, we still had a month to go. Now, I am home with my parents, talking wedding, dreaming wedding and speaking wedding. Somehow 30 days went to 10 days, and I am still trying to figure it out! I guess it finally hit me that Bryan and I were getting married when we went to get our marriage license at the Courthouse in Kansas City before I left to come home. In 10 days, we will have that baby signed, sealed and mailed off and be officially married!!!

I guess you can say my nerves and the excitement have settled well and are getting more and more crazier with each passing day! So, here is to hoping my anxiety stays low, the excitement grows and my nerves stay calm because in 10 days, I will be a Mrs. and finally get to marry my best friend!

Engagement Announcement.

I had a good friend of mine send this to me: our engagement announcement! How exciting! I know we are less than three weeks away, but just couldn't help but feel happy reading this. Enjoy!

Shah - Lindsey

Shefali S. Shah and Bryan C. Lindsey announce their engagement. The bride-to-be, of Leawood, Kan., is the daughter of Suresh Shah of Wildwood and Ilia Shah of Wildwood. She has a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and is pursuing a master’s degree in math education from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. Her fiancé, of Lenexa, Kan., is the son of Frank Lindsey of Hawk Point, Mo., and Rich and Liz Roundtree of Silex. He has a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is employed by Coreslab Structures. A June 19, 2010, wedding is planned.

Butterflies.

You can say we have been waiting for this day for a long time. A very long time. So it should be no surprise that we have a countdown going in our heads, in emails, on Facebook and pretty much anywhere we go, the word wedding comes up. A week ago, we had a month left. As of today, 24 days. 24. Days. Oh my gosh, we are approaching the teens.

In some ways, butterflies have started to enter our stomachs. Not because we are nervous about marrying each other because let's face it, we have been together long enough that we could finish the other person's sentence. I wish I were kidding. But, I am not. I guess we are nervous because we are about to enter a whole new stage in both of our lives. We will shortly be a Mr. and Mrs. The Lindseys. The L's as our friends like to call us. No longer will I be Miss Shefali Shah. I guess in many ways, the butterflies are a good thing. It's a way for us to remember that although we are nervous, we are very excited to begin this new stage, this new life. Together.

In the whirlwind of the life I have been leading the past few months with graduate school, working, running a photography gig on the side, wedding planning, packing and moving, I have put my emotions aside. Almost in a jar to not be opened until, well now. Although, I am still very busy with the wedding details and photography, I have opened that jar slowly, and slowly my emotions of our wedding day are unveiling. It's exciting. It's scary. It's nerve-wrecking. But, when it comes down to it, we are just excited to be getting married. To be a Mr. and Mrs. To be the Lindseys. To be the L's. So, the butterflies can enter our stomachs, our hearts can race at times and our heads might be spinning, but in 24 days, we finally get to do something we both have been dreaming long enough. I get to marry my best friend.

No post is good without some pictures, so here are a few of us living the last few weeks as an engaged couple!

Does It Feel Real Yet?

It all began on March 6th. It was a beautiful, warm and sunny day. Some might say it was the perfect weather condition to have a special event. I woke up and all I had were butterflies. I could not figure it out for the life of me except that they needed to disappear fast. I spent a large portion of my morning hanging out with one of my bridesmaids and getting ready. However, the butterflies were still there. I went to lunch with a few of my close gals and had a wonderful time catching up with them. Afterwards it was time for us to head to my first bridal shower, we all drove to my aunt's home where my nerves took over all of my emotions. Still could not figure out why they were there. I arrived with a warm welcome from my mum's friends, both of my aunts, Bryan's family and some of my gals. We played games and laughed. Oh the laughing. Naturally, I embarrassed myself but I had just the best time! We ate some delicious food my aunts and mum made along with desert. My heart was full of bubbles at this point, but the nerves, yes, they still were there!

It came time to open presents. I loved every item Bryan and I received for our new life together. It meant so much to me to be surrounded by all the wonderful people in Bryan and I's life. We truly are blessed, I thought. I read each card. There was one card that caught my attention, and it allowed me to solve the mystery of my nerves and butterflies. In the card, it said, Does it feel real yet? That was the answer. You see, until that day, pieces of it felt real. The registering, finding a place to call home and making decisions about our future. However, on March 6th, I realized I am actually getting married. Not just, Oh I think we are going to get married. Bryan and I have dreamt for this day for a long time. Six years of being together can do that to you! However, when people were asking me questions about Bryan and I together, I was opening gifts we would place in our home together and my mum and best friend had sparkles in their eyes because they knew in their hearts I was marrying the most perfect guy for me, it made it all feel very real. My nerves are gone now and are replaced with pure excitement because a little over three months from now, I am going to be marrying a man who is my whole world, my best friend!

Happy Belated New Year's!

Almost three months! Three months! Where has the time gone. This year has been off to one busy, but fabulous start for Bryan and I. Apart from starting school, we have been busy doing little details here and there! This weekend is my first bridal shower thrown by my aunt's on my dad's side of the family, so I am very excited! Stay tune for pictures from the shower next week!

Sneaking Up.

Wow, so it's been awhile since I have written in here. Life has definitely been crazy busy for Bryan and I. I cannot believe we are so close to the six-month mark. Everyone said it would slowly start to creep up on us and when it did, the months would start flying by. Boy, were they right!

I thought I would give everyone an update on the wedding planning. My parents returned from their trip to India about two weeks ago. I can't say much about the dresses they bought back because in the Indian custom, the bride's wedding dress is unveiled on the day of the wedding and not even my brother can see it until then! All I will say is it is everything I dreamed of wearing and more. As for Bryan, let's just say he is going to look like the most handsome Prince I have EVER seen. The bridesmaids dresses are incredibly beautiful. I had a slight moment where I wished I was one of the bridesmaids instead of the bride only because their dresses and accessories are GORGEOUS. I can't wait for my gals to see it. My parents and brother's outfit are incredible as well; they are going to look stunning. We also got a peek at the invitations and programs, and they turned out quite beautiful. My dad is the person I should give all credit to! He knew what we were looking for and bought just that home. Impressive. Overall, we were so pleased with everything and couldn't believe how much my parents had accomplished in such a short period of time. We were nothing short of being speechless.

While we were home over Thanksgiving, we got a chance to visit Savvi Formalwear where Bryan picked out the tux for his groomsmen, the dads, and our ring bearer. All I can say is they are going to be STUDS!

Slowly and slowly, we are starting to get things checked off our list. My dad booked a videographer before they left for India. Now we need to start generating our guest list, addresses, assembling the invitations together, our floral arrangements and of course our awesome playlist for the reception!

Our vacation to Chicago was absolutely lovely! We got to see some wonderful sights including Millennium Park, Willis (Sear's) Tower, Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier, and an awesome Architectural Boat Cruise. I have to say, the cruise was probably our favorite park considering Bryan and I are both architectural nuts. We love it. Overall, our vacation was wonderful! We hope to go back someday, maybe when it is around Christmas time. I bet downtown is beautiful around that time of the year. Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Love.
